Tetrastyle atrium

This is the second atrium in the House of the Faun. The main atrium was a Tuscan atrium and contained the statuette of the dancing faun. This second, smaller atrium was a tetrastyle atrium which means that the roof was supported by four columns. These columns can be seen in the picture. The service rooms of the house were centred around this tetrastyle atrium.
